92: The Magic Of Hoodia Gordonii

Hoodia Gordonii is a plant that suppresses appetite.   It is cultivated in the Kalahari Desert of South Africa where it was used by the natives for thousands of years to suppress their hunger. They didn’t do it for weight loss, but to keep their hunger at bay when on a hunting expedition. Is beneficial effects on weight loss were discovered as late as the 1960’s. This is the basis how Hoodia makes it easier to lose weight.

The demand for this plant unfortunately exceeds its supply since it can’t be cultivated at any other climate than that of the Kalahari Desert. 93: Trick Your Apetite With A Small Plate

Here is a trick to reduce your food intake in a big way. Go and get some smaller plates using them for your breakfast, lunch and dinner instead of the regular large  plates. If you’d put less food on large plates, you would still perceive it as “less” food, and basically instruct your brain that you are ‘under eating’. When you put the same amount of food on the smaller plates, you’ll fool your brain into believing that you’re eating a lot of food.

It’s psychological and it really works!  You won’t feel the temptation to get an extra fill because you’ll think you’ve had enough - a full plate of food!

95: The Value Of Fruits & Vegetables

Fruits and vegetables are packed with beneficial fibers, vitamins and antioxidants. They fill up your stomach fast so you feel full earlier. They are also low in calories and helps to keep your calorie count low.

96: Be Realistic With Your Goals

You can lose 50 pounds in a week if you work out 12 hours a day and eat nothing but carrots- but not if you’re a normal human. Slow and steady will win the race. Make small goals on your way to the bigger goal(s). In the end, you’ll have achieved more!

Remember that diets are temporary. When you change your dietary lifestyle  and your habits - it has to be long-term and continued to achieve weight maintenance. Don’t tell anybody you’re on a diet and make sure your lifestyle changes permanently.

You could have any snack at at least every 4 hours during the day. Good snacks are: Oranges, Apples, Chips, String Cheese, Pretzels etc. Eat anything you want (in small quantities), just make sure you have something in your stomach at all times, you should never have to feel hungry.

Eat at least two fruits or vegetables with every meal. This will fill your stomach and help you cut down on the calories you would take in from the other foods. They will also provide essential vitamines that will promte health and facilitate weight loss.

100: The Brain Is Fooled With Junk Food

The brain needs at least twenty minutes to realize that a person is full and don’t need to eat anymore. These twenty minutes are very crucial. If you had eaten junk foods, you would have consumed a lot of calories before your brain could realize that enough was enough. This is because junk foods usually lack in fiber content.

In contrast, fiber rich low calorie foods will fill up your stomach quicker with the least amount of foods possible. Even if you eat a little more than needed during this twenty-minute window, you won’t be gaining weight because your overall calorie intake would still be low.


There are many different types of low calorie diet programs. Some would try to restrict your calorie intake by making you eat like a baby, but that is not a healthy weight loss method. If you follow a fiber rich low calorie diet you’ll experience great weight loss.

101: Eating After Exercise

For the first thirty minutes after a workout your body is still ready to exercise; your muscles have been innervated, they are ready to fire (workout) when you say so, and are not ready to begin repairing yet.  After thirty minutes, your muscles relax and begin to repair themselves.  This is when one would want to consume protein, because protein aids in the muscle rebuilding process.  So, if you consume your post-workout protein beverage 30 min to 1 hour after your workout, you will be helping your muscles rebuild during their primetime rebuilding process and maximizing the benefits of the protein you’re taking. 

After 2-3 hours, you should consume a regular meal (with protein in it) to continue aiding in the muscle rebuilding process.  Do not ‘treat’ yourself to sweets or alcohol or whatever, for your muscles will still be crying out for protein and you will be feeding them sugar or alcohol or heavy carbohydrates…they want protein.  Remember ‘You Are What You Eat’?  That is especially true on the days you exercise.  If you can eat properly after a workout and stay away from ‘treats’, your results will come faster than you expect.
